Gathering our community with experts

iStock_61722592_LARGEPSA advocates for subject matter experts from outside the study abroad industry to be included in student safety conversations.

Experts should include content specialists, such as student health, global health, epidemiology, international road safety, water safety, terrorism, expatriate victim’s rights, and higher education law.

Overall campus safety issues also have relevance during study abroad, including drug and alcohol policy, violent crime, such as gun violence and sexual assault, hazing, mental health issues, missing students, and cybersecurity. Since many of these safety issues are relevant both on and off campus, we believe simply breaking down “institutional silos” will lead to new knowledge.
